Its a beautiful day
Today the sunlight has a beautiful warm tone that makes my daily commute a delight; especially when I can take a slow amble through the park before whizzing once more past all those stationary cars...
Time out
Heading off this morning after the normal mad morning 'rush hour' at home (a gaggle of Teens to get out of the door with school bags, sports kits, bikes etc) I decided I needed some 'time out' before heading into the office.
Taking the slow road
Cycling through Town I take the time to chose the 'slow road' - a walk through the local park.
The contrast between the busy streets and the refreshing gardens is welcoming. I stop, get off my bike and WALK - something that to be honest doesn't happen that often as I am almost stuck to the pedals! The Flowerbeds are getting new stock, the bells are chiming and the start of the day feels really rather special...and already I've forgotten that mad parent 'rush hour' and feel refreshed and content.
This morning I take time to visit the Ducks - rather moody as no bread in my basket today! but still interested enough to make me smile. They have found a puddle to use as a makeshift bath and despite peoples attention refuse to move even for bikes and buggies.
Cycletherapy
Of course stuck in a car its difficult to see that cycling offers such freedom but as I whizz by I know I am giving both my mind and body a well being blitz that is the best way to kick start the day. read more>
The High Life
I've decided theres really nothing wrong in making the most of your commute. I've learnt over the last years that going by bike offers me far more choices. For instance I can stop by the Coffee Bar and meet up with friends, pick up the paper or lunch on the way or just take some essential 'time out' to destress, evaluate and plan the day ahead.

Happy Days with Pushbike Honey
Surprise Picnic Party and Pushbikes
There's nothing like a Birthday Party on a summers eve to create happy memories. On Friday a group of my closest friends and their offspring got together in a glorious walled garden at the National Trusts Ickworth House.
Bunting adorning the garden, pimms, homemade lemonade and laughter made for one of the happiest summer evenings I've enjoyed.
...we stole into the garden laden with gifts and full of laughter, decorated the summer house and awaited our friend....
Pushbikes were disgarded as the excitement to share picnics and greet friends filled the air.
A lakeside retreat
The beautiful setting boasted a summerhouse and ornamental lake with stunning waterlillies -perfect for girls 'of a certain age' to sit back and enjoy... despite the odd shower or two...
The combination of a stunning secret garden, pushbikes packed with scrummy food and new Birthday Shoes was like magic...

Going Dotty over Honey
We've mixed quintessential English style with Dutch quality craftsmanship to create a fabulous retro pushbike celebrating the endangered English Honey Bee.The Pushbike Honey Honey Bee is a 3 speed traditional pushbike with Brooks saddle and chrome retro detailing. She simply glides through the shimano gears and has a great supportive riding position.
Riding into Town today I met a faithful friend, Mac, who was a little too big to fit our pet baskets, but was happy to run along beside me!
It's Bike Friday today and rather than a dress down day we've followed Manchester's Bike Friday UK lead and 'cycled in style'...Mac is not part of our boutique accessory range - but take a look at our 'Retro Romance Collection'
Green Tip: Did you know The Honey Bee is in danger of becoming extinct? Pushbike Honey Honey Bee is a registered trademark
England oh my England

Red White and Blue
After last nights celebrations it was a slow cruise into town today with the sunshine promising another gorgeous day.
My red Danennborg pushbike looked the part last night, with white and blue panniers and the retro Union Jack Helmet. I'd packed plenty of wine, cheese and french bread into the panniers and we all set off to share the evening with friends.
That's something that I really love, getting the family together, and cycling seems to work well with teens. Maybe its the combination of fresh air, space and trendy accessories!
Day 4 of Bike Week!... sunshine, pedals and fun!
Keep Calm and Pedal On!
Osborne has tightened our belts but some good old fashioned lifestyle medicine may be just what the doctor ordered...pedal power can help us keep fit, reduce carbon emissions, reduce our fuel bill and support wellbeing.
This week is Bike To Work Week and to celebrate I have the enviable task of cycling a different pushbike every day. Yesterday evening I lugged home the first weekly shop; which let me tell you can be cumbersome when you have two teenage boys! My journey home was faster (must be the added weight) and easier than I anticipated. I used Blue Blossom Panniers with the insert chill bags and our traditional Holkham wicker Basket.
Todays Ride: Dannenborg 3 speed in stunning Fire Engine Red.
She's the ultimate luxury cruise; a vision of gloss red and chrome her retro details are eyecatching. An easy pushbike to manage she's lightweight and great in traffic. I certainly got alot of attention on this bike, a real eye catcher!
Simple Sturmey Archer Gears with a retro Dynamo light and Drum Brakes.

It's Team Green Bike Week and to celebrate we're introducing you to a new pushbike everyday!
Commuting through traffic, doing the School Run, meeting friends and shopping.
Today started bright and clear, I rode our black Honey Bee pushbike today adding a Basket and Blue Gingham Panniers to lug my lap top, bags and lunch to work. As it promises to be hot today I'm wearing flip flops - one of the joys of a traditional pushbike is the freedom to wear what you want...no Lycra needed!
On the way home tonight I have to pick up shopping from the local store so I've added two of our chill bags into the panniers. When I lock up I'll drop these into the shopping trolley and use them as 'bags for life'. ..that means I pack as I go and I don't overbuy; or overload my pushbike.
I'll let you know how I get on -
